Seek Truth

Taking on the Masters Program by Holy Yoga this year has been an adventure. Once I completed my 225-hour training in November of 2018, I knew I had just scratched the surface and I was immediately drawn to taking the Masters program. The Masters program is a 300-hour training the full duration of the year. Each class takes us a little bit deeper into understanding God, scripture, yoga, spiritual disciplines, and so so so much more. It feels like that popular quote, 'the more you learn, the less you know' as you are opened up to so many concepts and ideas and theories that make you want to freeze time so you can continue to learn.   While many of the weekly classes, additional video and audio recordings and books to review have left me saying, 'this was my favourite class yet!', this past Monday's class was nothing short of [...]

Yoga Teacher, Gospel Preacher

"You're a yoga teacher, gospel preacher." Those were the words spoken to us during our 'graduation' on our final night of immersion week as part of our 225 hour Holy Yoga teacher certification. Before that declaration was a stream of words spoken by one of our leaders that only God knew would reach the depths of each of our hearts as the words articulated the truths we most needed to hear, the encouragement to stay the path once returning home, and the confidence to stand in the truth of who we are even when we so often forget. Each member of my small group had a different divinely inspired word spoke over them and mine was just as special and unique as each of the others... Seen. Adored. Kind. Sweet. A few other words were spoken then came the one... accepted. The very first night at Bible with the creator [...]

Move Mountains

If you have faith even the size of a mustard seed you can move mountains.   This thought came streaming through my mind as I watched the mountains grow bigger and bigger before my eyes. Travelling through the Canadian Rockies was a first for me, and as I sat in the back seat on our way to the coast, I took in their grandiose nature.   I had never really thought about how I felt about mountains. When I lived in Half Moon Bay for five months in 2012, I didn’t put much thought into the mountains so daringly placed on the coastline I called “home” for the duration of my fellowship. It was just mountains and ocean side by side. Perhaps that’s why the mountains never made me feel… the expansive ocean on one side kept me feeling free.   The Rockies, however, are mountains on either side of [...]

Soul Searching

Lately I've been doing some "soul searching", as they say. Thinking about what it is that brings me joy and passion, and where I feel my life's purpose is going to take me. The following deep thoughts were spurred on one night as I was laying in bed; with the scent of lavender guiding me to dream land, I was contemplating how I've come to find truth in the power of aromatherapy, yet I question other things people find truth and healing in like crystals... then the thought of crystal reminded me of sand and being warm on a beach... which then reminded me how, in the past 12 months, I haven't left the country. I've only left the province twice-- once to get a package across the US border, once barely into Ontario to assist a friend with a wedding she was shooting. I realized it's been so long [...]

Living a Note-Worthy Life.

Oh the fresh pages of a new notebook. So lovely—so untouched, completely available to be taken in the direction of your choosing and ready, hoping, to be used for something of the greater good. I have this thing where I always carry a notebook with me. I have even been known to write on sticky notes, and then stick the sticky note to my cell phone! There’s something about the classic style of pen and paper that calls out and infects you with inspiration. And needless to say, I don’t really use my iPhone’s “Notebook” feature to its full potential. While in the Dominican Republic this summer, I had the opportunity of working alongside three lovely ladies. We all enjoy stationary perhaps a tidbit too much so when adorable “No Stress” notebooks were introduced to a couple of the ladies on a shopping trip, it became a “we all need [...]

“Find What Speaks To You”

Have you seen the commercials on TV for for Pier 1 Imports? They are the cutest commercials where an individual is walking around the store and they hear something... It's generally a voice that is too cute for words and is saying something ridiculously relatable to the person who is doing the browsing. The individual sources the voice and it's an inanimate object that the person just has to take home now that they seem to have a wonderful bond. The tag line for the commercial is "Find what speaks to you." These commercials are... - Adorable - Make me want to shop at Pier 1 Imports (I'm such a sucker for clever marketing) - Speak to a greater truth in our lives I find that when God has something important to say to us-- something important for us to learn-- He brings the lesson to us in forms of [...]
