Join Me: 30 Day Challenge

I invite you along a journey that will positively impact your life and will change the way you view the world around you. It's 30 days of gratitude and doing ONE thing that will move your life the direction you aspire to go. It sounds simple, but it will come with its own set of unique challenges; you will overcome procrastination, self-doubt, and will come out the other side of these 3o days feeling lighter, happier, and ready to continue on past the 30-day marker as the challenge will have transitioned from a timeline to a lifestyle.

What you'll need:

  • A notebook or your phone (I'm old school and love a real notebook and pencil)

  • A willing heart ready to be changed.

  • Oh, and an idea of what you want to do for 3o days....

The challenge has 3 parts:

1. Each day, for 30 days, you will write down in your journal at least ONE thing you are grateful for.

You can do this as you are getting ready for the day, make notes in your phone throughout your day as little things happen, or use this as a reflection time before you head to bed.

My preference is to make little notes on my phone throughout the day, then before bed, journal them out.

On 'good days' this will be soooo easy for you. A little extra on your paycheque? boom, grateful. Dinner already made when you get home? PTL. Laundry folded? Life is good and all is right in the world.

But, on those difficult days, the days it's only Wednesday and not Friday, the days nothing seems to be going right and you can't even imagine what else could go wrong, the days you don't feel loved or like you have value, those are the days you need gratitude the most. Those are the days this practice will influence you more than you currently realize or could even expect. On these days, you can opt for the little things that make your life better amidst chaos; I am grateful for water, for food, for shelter. I am grateful for the ability to walk and talk. I am grateful for the ability to see. All of those are incredible for keeping life in perspective. But I urge you to go deeper. On days when you don't want to go to work, recognize you are in a downward spiral and say out loud, 'I am grateful I have a job to go to, that pays my bills, puts food on the table, and allows me to enjoy a little extra on the side.' How is that for perspective? Or the day your engine light goes on and the tank is almost empty and you're already running late for work, remember to be grateful for having a car to get from point A to point B.

It's the hard moments we are re-wiring our thought patterns to learn to seek the good in the bad. You'll find yourself feeling more at ease, more joyful and able to handle whatever comes your way with more grace.

2. Choose a task to do each and every day for 30 days. This task should be something small that moves you towards the person you want to become.

It could be choosing to eat an apple instead of a cupcake, meditating for a couple minutes each day, setting aside a little bit of time to unplug from social media and read... the possibilities are endless. If you find you get down on yourself after scrolling through everyone's highlight feed on Instagram, set aside some time each day to turn off your phone and maybe read an encouraging book. Maybe you just can't seem to exercise, no matter how often you hear it's good for you, so you decide to commit to spending 5 minutes on your feet each day (walking around your living space, doing some jumping jacks, etc).

By having your task as a challenge, you will feel more motivated to follow through with what you've said you are going to do. Write about this, in the same space you write your daily gratitudes-- even if it's a simple check mark that you've done it. As the 30 days roll on, I hope you find yourself willing to write more about the changes being made in your life from executing the challenge.

3. The final part is to gain a smidge of accountability.

Post on your Instagram that you are doing the challenge, ask a friend to help hold you accountable, get some friends together and all do the challenge! Having others keeping you accountable means less room to slip and have the mentality of 'no one knows so it's ok'.

So you're sitting there thinking this all sounds great, but like, really WHY would I actually do all this? You should do it for you. Do it because small steps towards your goals mean you will achieve it! Cultivating a heart of gratitude fills you up till you overflow with thankfulness, joy, and love to extend to others, no matter how you relate to them. Completing this challenge will give you a sense of accomplishment (you committed to something powerful for 30 days), a heart open to bigger challenges and a mindset that is wired to know you can handle any challenge that is on your path.

For my challenge, I am doing two things (because apparently, I am a go-getter) aside from the daily gratitude journaling. I have picked reading a devotion daily and doing an inversion daily. Why, you ask? Well, because both are proven to better you as a person! I know that when I am consistent in devotions I am more clear headed, make better decisions, radiate love more, and overall am more aligned with how I want to live my life. I don't get stressed as easily, and I am more overall calm and collected. Inversions improve circulation, can energize you when you need a lift and can calm you when you need to chill out. There are anti-aging benefits, they increase your focus and strength, and are just plain fun to do! I have a goal of being able to do a freestanding handstand, so doing an inversion a day will help along my process. Together, these two daily practices will impact my world in a well-rounded way-- mentally, physically and spiritually.

Check out the contact page and drop me a line letting me know what your 30-day challenge will consist of! Or, let me know on Instagram! I am looking forward to hearing about what you picked to do, AND the benefits of doing it for 30 days!

I'm rooting for you! I know you will rock this challenge and will continue to live a life authentically you!
